She looked a little like this in my dream, only bleached and naked. Some said suicide, others said I was the killer. They locked me away with the testimony of “witness” with a motive. Either way, my madness overtook me in there, speaking to extensions of my own guilt and loneliness while desperately trying to hold on to some sort of semblance of reality. Instead, all I found was the sudden realization that she was gone. Never again, never more. The human being that was awkward, making dick jokes and listening to obscure music was nothing but a vague ghost that only spoke to me through my own desperation to materialize that which has been permanently undone. She left me on this world with the overbearing guilt of that which I had no claim in. All that was left here was the exit. On the other side I’d hope to see her, but knew it wouldn’t be so. All that waited was the vast emptiness of being blacked entirely out of this reality. A nonthinking, nonentity existing nowhere. Just like her. Just like all the others that left this world. What use was this illusion of self preservation when nothing further was to be gained from this futile existence other than existential misery? I put the gun I found in my cell to my temple. I pull the trigger. I wake up to find my last moments on this earth were only the very end of an alcohol induced nightmare. I told her on the phone I had a dream where she died and sure enough there was another person to assure me that my own subconscious has a sick sense of humor.
